Brenda always says there are three things to consider when choosing a photographer: first, you have to like their style of photography. Nothing else matters if you don’t connect with their work!
Second, you have to like them. Seems obvious, but think about it – you’re going to be with your photographer(s) all day long on one of the most important, happiest days of your life, and at the very least they shouldn’t drive you crazy. Ideally they will be a real asset to your wedding day: helpful, fun to be with, drama-free, easy-going, quietly professional, doing their job without turning your ceremony and party into a photoshoot circus. And finally, the price has to be right.
Which brings us to the purpose of this page on our web site: pricing. We think its only reasonable to give you some idea of our pricing before you go to all the trouble to come in and meet with us. So here it is!
Please keep in mind that these prices have some flexibility. For example, if you include a book or album in your package, we generally will include an engagement session too, at no charge. And during off-peak months and non-Saturday dates, we often offer discounts off the prices you see below. So the best thing is to come in for a meeting and have us give you a quotation — we think you will be pleasantly surprised!
To be fair to all our potential clients, we book weddings on a first-come, first-served basis. A $500 non-refundable retainer guarantees your date, and removes it from our availability calendar. The retainer is applied in full to your final balance. After you select a set of products and services, we prepare a contract that describes the agreement between us in detail. Payment of the final balance is due one week before the wedding date. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards, and unlike some of our competitors, we do not require you to give us your first-born child!
To make it easy for you to get exactly what you want, we don’t offer preset wedding photograph packages — instead, you just pick what you need. We have divided our services into three categories:
To get an approximate idea of what your wedding photography will cost, just pick the items you want from the categories described in detail below. Keep in mind we always work out final pricing at our meeting with you.
Classic Wedding. Two photographers (both Paul & Brenda) to cover your wedding from “getting ready” to the last formal event of your reception (cake cutting, garter toss, etc.). This can include up to nine consecutive hours. Additional hours available at $249/hr. Includes transportation and travel time, camera equipment (and backups) and unlimited exposures taken. No additional travel fees for weddings anywhere in NY, MA, RI, CT,VT, NH, or NJ. After the wedding, all the best images (typically between 500 and 800) are professionally edited: cropped, adjusted for brightness and contrast, color corrected, and prepared for professional lab printing.1 We deliver these images to you on DVD via Fed Ex, typically within one month of the event, in high resolution, suitable for printing, posting to Facebook, etc. Includes a usage license that lets you print, publish, and distribute your wedding pictures as you wish. $2999
Simple Wedding. One photographer for up to two hours. Perfect for very simple weddings — on the beach, Mayor’s Office, NYC Wedding Bureau, Commitment Ceremonies, etc. Images delivered in gallery online and DVD. Generally not available on Saturdays during the May – October wedding season; some exceptions may apply — ask for details. $499
Destination Weddings. We LOVE destination weddings! Depending on time of year, travel expenses may be significantly reduced, or even eliminated. If you’re getting married in another state or even another country, discover the advantages to working with a photographer from “back home.” Contact us for details on our extraordinarily competitive destination wedding packages.
Video Services. We offer video only for very specific types of weddings – weddings at the Manhattan Marriage Bureau and similar very small weddings, and destination weddings outside of the northeast US. Other than that we do not offer day of wedding videography. There are many talented wedding videographers in the Capital Region, and we’d be happy to give you a referral to one or more of them.
Online Previews. All the best images from your wedding posted in a gallery on the internet – the perfect way for you and your guests to view, download and make prints of your images! Direct ordering of prints from our high-quality, fast, and inexpensive lab. Typically available within three to five weeks of wedding and are available for at least one year. Medium-res versions perfect for facebook, emailing, etc. Prints from 4×6 to 30×40 may be ordered at our low prices directly from the gallery. $99. Or choose Hi-res posting for $399
Softcover Preview Book. All the best images from your wedding on 11 x 8.5” pages with six images per page, with filename beneath each image. Includes full-color, custom designed printed cover. Typically available within one month of event. Includes Fed Ex shipping: $249.
Hardcover Preview Book. Same as above, except in hard cover with dust jacket: $299
Box of Proofs. Up to 400 4×6 preview prints in an elegant black fitted box. (Order a second box if your wedding has more than 400 final images). Proofs are back-printed with filename for easy identification, and are yours to keep. Typically available within one month of event. $149
A bunch of wedding photos on a disc or on the internet is just that — a bunch of photos. Don’t make the mistake of skimping on the final presentation of your wedding story! There is no substitute for a professionally-designed, custom-created wedding book. We offer a variety of book options, from very inexpensive to exquisitely crafted masterpieces designed to last more than a lifetime. Here are some of our many options:
For couples who want a handcrafted, traditional-style album with a subtle modern twist, our new Classic Luxury album series is for you! Virtually every aspect of this album can be customized to your personal taste. Pictured below is a sample album we have at our studio; it’s a 40 page/side 10×10″ album with thick pages, a black tooled leather spine and chocolate crocodile main covers. We gilded the page edges with patterned gold – exquisitely beautiful!
Image quality is stunning since the photographs are printed on metallic photo paper (this is not a press printed book) and flush mounted to the pages, with an extremely narrow seam down the middle of the book — perfect for huge two-page spreads. Lustre paper is also available if you want a more traditional appearance.
The album is protected with a cloth envelope, placed inside a custom-fitted leatherette box with elegant stitching. Available in 8×8″, 10×10″ and 12×12″, up to 70 pages and sides. Truly an heirloom-quality album, hand crafted in the USA and available with just one week turnaround after you approve your preview layout! Turnaround and delivery times are conservative estimates, but are not guarantees. Actual time depends on workload, time of year, and other factors. All offers subject to change and availability.
Please add 8% NY State Sales Tax to all prices shown. In the absence of a retainer payment or contract, all prices are subject to change without notice or obligation. Once we have a signed contract, your prices are “locked in” and will not go up, even if we raise our prices before your wedding day.
1 The “Day of Wedding Photography, Post-Production and DVD” item includes photography the day of your event as well as professional editing and post-production for all the images we select to deliver on DVD. See “Proofs and Previews” and “Books, Albums, and Presentation” for additional options.
2 We make best efforts to perform any reasonable “edits” you ask for in the book layout review cycle. However, edits are limited by technical considerations, and we reserve the right to decline to perform edits that are either technically impossible, extraordinarily time consuming, or which significantly impact the technical quality of the book. Light retouching is included in the definition of “edit;” extensive retouching, such as swapping heads, changing expressions, removing individuals may incur additional charges. In addition, edits which would require a change in contract terms, such as moving to a larger book size or different book type after the book has already been laid out are not considered “edits,” and may incur additional charges. In cases where edits would incur additional fees, we always obtain your written approval before proceeding with any work
3The number of Photo Station photos and prints made are practically limited by our physical ability to take and print photos during the contracted photo station “uptime.” To prevent individual guests from monopolizing the photo station, on rare occasions we may limit the number of photos taken and prints delivered to any single guest or couple to five photos.
