Weddings and engagements

Image We spent a gorgeous spring Sunday afternoon in Northampton MA with Nicole and Patrick.  It was a pleasure getting to know them. Their calm, quiet happiness is not only beautiful to photograph, but beautiful to just be around.  We can't wait for their wedding in September!  You can see some of the pictures from their engagement session here: Nicole and Patrick's Engagement Photos.

Image Devon and Michael stopped by our studio on a spring day and created some romantic and fun engagement photos. They are an amazing couple, and I think it's impossible to take a bad picture of them! Click here to see their engagement session.

Image Tara and Socrates had a beautiful wedding at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom - perfect for winter weddings because it is so photogenic. Click here  to see the page layout for their coffee table book. Image Leslie and Mike are members of the band Goldilocks, who we've had the privilege of shooting twice now. Recently engaged, when they were in our studio for some promo pix, we took the opportunity to create some beautiful engagement photos that reflect their happiness and warm personalities.

Image Winter weather can make engagement photography a challenge, so we shot Karen and Dominick in our studio and everyone loved the results! You can see their engagement photos here. Their wedding on a snowy February evening was fresh and beautiful. You can see their 76 page hardcover wedding book layout by clicking here.

Image Lauren and Patrick came up to Stockbridge from New York city, bringing together an intimate group of friends and family from as far away as Ireland andEngland. It was our first opportunity to photograph in Stockbridge'sRed Lion Inn, and the results were warm and romantic. You can see photos from their beautiful late fall wedding here: Lauren and Patrick's WeddingClick here to see the pages for their 60-page, 10x10 hardbound coffee-table book.

Image Nicole and Andrew gave us the opportunity to do our first newlywed "trash thedress" shoot. If you haven't heard of this before, it's a fairly newidea sweeping the nation. The goal isn't really to trash the dress, butto make happy pictures that you wouldn't ordinarily take on yourwedding day, because you don't want to risk getting your dress dirty.Nicole and Andrew love the outdoors, and the results were both fun andbeautiful. You can see them by clicking here: Nicole and Andrew's Trash the Dress Photos.

ImageLeah and Matt's wedding in Newport RI provided us with one great photo opportunityafter another, thanks to their careful planning. You can see their wedding book here: Leah and Matt's Wedding Book.

Beyond the wedding day. . .

A lot of people don't realize that we are a full-time, full-service photo studio, serving all your photographic needs. Even if you chose someone else to shoot your wedding day (you did it before you heard about us, right?  Smile ) we forgive you, and we'd be happy to work with you on other photo projects: Just a few of the things we can do for brides, grooms, and couples:

  • Stealth Proposal Photos. Want to capture the moment you drop on bended knee and ask her to marry you? We'll be there to capture the moment, without her even knowing about it until afterwards! Too good an event to miss!
  • Engagement Photos. A fun, relaxed photo session that captures your happiness during the glow of your engagement period. In studio, on location, we'll create romantic, gorgeous images that will help you always remember "the way we were."
  • Boudoir Pics. Surprise your fiancè with a beautiful magazine-style softcover book or a DVD video montage that will show him your sexy, confident side. Soft and sensual or sexy and hot, we know how to make great glamour pix, and you'll have a blast doing it -- we promise!
  • Rehearsal Dinner Photography. Sometimes weddings bring relatives and friends from far away who haven't seen each other for a long time. The rehearsal dinner will be the first time they get a chance to see each other, and the reunion moments can be touching, emotional, amazing. Why not have us there to catch those moments, and make them part of your wedding story?
  • Wedding Ceremony and Reception Photography. Of course, this is the heart of what we offer. We have a strong photojournalistic style, but we also understand that some people want traditional group photos too -- we do it all.
  • Trash the Dress. Well, the point isn't so much to trash the dress, as to do a newlywed photo session, in your wedding clothes. Always fun, always romantic, and for sure, memorable!
  • Bellies and Babies! Is that the pitter-patter of little feet we hear? We'd love to photograph you during your pregnancy, and capture you and your husband's joy at the new addition to your family.
  • Family Reunions. We love shooting family reunions! Maybe it's because our own families have such great reunion traditions, but we love them all. Why not start your own tradition of having Paul and Brenda shoot your family reunions, and let us produce a beautiful book from the event for each family? It's surprisingly inexpensive!

Wedding Planning Tips

Wedding Planning Tip #1: When looking at a photographer's portfolio, ask to see two or three examples of complete weddings, in addition to their best work. This approach gives you a much better idea of their true capabilities, strengths and weaknesses than a portfolio of "best-of" images from random weddings, possibly taken over a long period of time. This will help you select a photographer who can produce consistently great photography of your entire day, rather than just a few good images.

Wedding Planning Tip #2: The most popular wedding dates (Saturdays during the spring, summer, and early fall) with the best venues, DJs, caterers and photographers are often booked a year or more in advance. Fridays and Sundays and winter Saturdays tend to be booked up six months in advance.
